Bipolar Disorder or Manic
Depression is witnessed by alternating episodes of mania or depression.

first, or even by their family, friends, and doctors.
Bipolar Depression
Bipolar Disorder is
commonly referred to as manic depression, and while the depressed state
is a significant factor in the disorder, it is distinguished from other
mood disorders by a minimum of one manic episode.
Bipolar Symptoms
Bipolar disorder is
distinguished from major depression by the presence of at least one
episode of mania. Any given episode of bipolar disorder is classified
as depressive, manic, hypomanic, or mixed depending on what its
predominant features are.
Bipolar Treatment
Medication is often the
first tool used in bipolar treatment, and a variety is used today. The
most common medications used today are lithium in conjunction with
anticonvulsants and antidepressants.
Bipolar Disorder in Child
The groupings of bipolar
disorders are mood or affective disorders. This means there is a rapid
shift between moods on a regular basis. With bipolar disorder, the mood
can be down in the depressive stages, or the polar opposite in the
mania or manic stage.

cycles of mania and melancholy were recognized as early as the sixth
century, the psychologist Kraepelin in 1899 introduced the term manic

Depression and manic states
are thought to be polar opposites of human feeling. The word “bipolar”
is one used to describe a swinging between these two emotional polar
opposites.

parent. The reason for this is that the primary focus is on the
individual with the bipolar disorder.
